Pastured poultry

A batch of day-old chicks in the brooder.

So tasty and much healthier

As you may already know, pastured poultry is healthier because it is constantly consuming grass, clover, and bugs. These healthier chickens make healthier meat, lower in fat, higher in protein, with more nutrients, and higher proportions of Omega3 fatty acids ( the good fats). Perhaps more importantly, they taste incredible, with a texture, flavor, and juiciness that can’t be found in store-bought chicken. Last summer we raised two rounds of pastured poultry to a great success, and it is really good  chicken. This summer we will be raising several more batches, starting with our first processing date of May 19. If you’ve already ordered your chickens this spring, the bagged and cleaned birds, ready for your oven or freezer are available for pick up at the farm on this day. Of course, if you can’t get to the farm for some reason, we will be glad to deliver them to your door for a small fee.  We also try to raise enough to put a few in the freezer at the farm, so if you missed ordering for this first slaughter day, but would like some chicken anyway, just give us a call and we’ll see what we have.  If we’re out, we’ll be glad to put your order into the next batch of chickens. A chicken usually weighs about 4 lbs, and cost is $2.25/lb.
